NOTE: Abroadia is currently working to set up the scholarships. We hope to offer them for the 2024-2025 academic year.

Let’s face it, these days it is not cheap to study abroad. Abroadia understands this and has allocated funds to be awarded to students who plan to study on one of our programs. Scholarships may be applied to summer, semester, or other Abroadia-designed programs. Students who are receiving scholarships to take part in faculty-led programs designed by their college or university and Abroadia are not eligible for the Abroadia scholarships. Interested students may apply for one, but not all three scholarships.

Finger Lakes Abroad (FLX Abroad) Scholarship

Students enrolled at a college or university in the Finger Lakes region (NY) are eligible for this scholarship. Apply!

Pablo & Nieves Bueker Scholarship

Pablo founded the BCA Quito program years ago and was an inspired international educator and Latin Americanist. Students who will study in Ecuador with Abroadia may apply for this scholarship.

“Aliados” Scholarship

An “aliado” (ally) is an institution that has worked closely with Abroadia over the years to send students students abroad. In appreciation of these relationships Abroadia awards one scholarship per year to students nominated by these institutions.

How can you become an Abroadia “aliado”? There are two ways:

1) Send students on one of Abroadia’s programs or work with Abroadia to create a faculty-led program abroad;

2) Invite Abroadia to your campus study abroad fair.

Finger Lakes (FLX) Abroad Scholarship (One scholarship per student per year)

The Finger Lakes region comprises an area that includes 1,063 waterfalls and gorges, 400 registered historic sites and landmarks, over 16,000 acres of national forest, 650 miles of shoreline, more than400 wineries and vineyards, and so much more. It is also home to numerous colleges and universities such as Alfred University, Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Finger Lakes Community College, Keuka College, Nazareth University and others. This scholarship was created for students enrolled full time at any college or university in the Finger Lakes region. Check with your advisor to learn more!

Pablo and Nieves Bueker Scholarship (One scholarship per student per year)

Paul “Pablo” Bueker fell in love with Ecuador and Nieves when he lived in the country as a Peace Corps volunteer many years ago. Since then he provided hundreds of American students with an authentic immersion experiences and he transmitted his love for this Andean country to them through numerous cultural activities. Sadly, Pablo passed away in 2013, but his spirit lives on in the programs that we offer to students who study in Ecuador. We created this scholarship to honor Pablo and his wife Nieves by providing financial support to students who will study in Ecuador through Abroadia.

The Aliados Scholarship (One per student per year)

Abroadia highly values its relationships with colleges and universities in New York and throughout the world. This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in institutions of higher learning that have a working relationship with Abroadia. The amount of the award varies by program and by year, but we make every effort to provide funds to help students take that important first step to study abroad.

We welcome any donations to our scholarships. You may choose any of the scholarships to contribute to. Whatever amount you decide to donate will be immensely appreciated. Thank you.
