Teach the Teachers

What is this? This is a program inspired by the NAFSA initiative “Train the Trainers” which strives to establish pedagogical, mentoring and collaborative relationships between veteran and new international educators. We have added a twist to this idea: we want to create similar relationships but across borders. Our vision is to help professors establish meaningful professional relationships between the United States and countries in Latin America. We want professors to share new pedagogies, curriculum design, methodologies and philosophies of teaching from the K-12 to college/university level.

Who is This For?

We are looking for college/university professors of Spanish, English, English as a Second Language, or Education. High school Spanish or English teachers may also apply to participate. This is an ideal program for students preparing for a career as a Spanish instructor.

2024 Program

We will host a program in Argentina and participants will spend ample time at a small school in Buenos Aires. The dates are June 15-30, 2024. Only four (4) spaces available!

Abroadia Fellows Program

Once you participate in the program you will become an Abroadia Fellow. This means that we hope that your international experience will not end with your return flight home. As an Abroadia Fellow we envision you finding ways to share your international experience with others. You may do this through the following methods.

  • Identify a professor or graduate student who may be interested in this program. They may be colleagues from other colleges or universities.

  • Publish an article or record a podcast on your experience. You may even do this during the program.

  • Discuss with your department and your Education Abroad office the possibilities of designing your own short-term program abroad. Hopefully, you would work with us!

  • Promote study abroad and encourage students and faculty to consider spending time at the site you visited.
